Special Track on Affective Computing
نویسندگان
چکیده
Affective computing (AC) is an emerging field that aspires to narrow the communicative gap between the highly emotional human and the emotionally challenged computer by developing computational systems that recognize and respond to the affective states (for example, moods, emotions) of the user. e basic tenet behind AC systems is that automatically recognizing and responding to a user’s affective states during interactions with a computer can enhance the quality of the interaction, thereby making the computer interface more usable, enjoyable, and effective. For example, an affect-sensitive learning environment that detects and responds to student frustration is expected to increase motivation, engagement, and learning gains.

Editorial: State of the Journal
AS IEEE’s Transactions on Affective Computing (TAC) reaches its fifth anniversary I have many positive developments to note. First, and most significant for our readers, TAC’s first official impact factors were released and we came in at a whopping 3.47. This is extraordinary for a new journal and makes us the second highest rated journal in IEEE’s Computer Society. For those interested in arti...
متن کاملRemarks on Modern Track Geometry Maintenance
A short survey on modern track maintenance methods is given, concentrating on the developments in recent years. The ongoing refinement of the machinery should be shown as the influence of IT-solutions. On top the economic view to the track infrastructure is briefly demonstrated. Further developments in track hardware solutions must respect the obtained high level of track work mechanization. H...
متن کاملK-grid: A Structure for Storage and Retrieval of Affective Knowledge
We present the K-grid, a structure for storage and retrieval of affective knowledge. The K-grid is an ubiquitous-affective computing structure that can be used to capture and disseminate affectively laden knowledge, based on activities and past experiences. The knowledge is recorded in special substructures (Knodes) which are initially linked sequentially, based on the chronological order of th...
متن کاملChallenges in Computational Modeling of Affective Processes
In this special section we report on the workshop Standards in Emotion Modeling held in August 2011, Leiden, The Netherlands. An important goal of this workshop was to identify challenges related to the development and evaluation of computational models of affective processes. These challenges were approached from a psychological and a computational modeling perspective. In this introduction we...
متن کاملGuest Editorial: Toward Commercial Applications of Affective Computing
AFFECTIVE computing has come a longway from its humble beginnings. Starting with a seminal paper by Rosalind Picard [1], it has evolved into an interdisciplinary field with its own IEEE Transactions and numerous special issues in other journals. One of the main goals of affective computing is to create machines which can adapt to users’ emotions in order to produce more natural and efficient in...
